YOUTUBE RIGHTS MANAGEMENT & PROTECTION
YouTube ContentID for your music and beats
Your recordings can generate income when other people use them in YouTube videos. EXMGE manages YouTube ContentID for producers, artists, labels and rights holders, with tools to review claims and support for licensed customer videos.
SCROLL TO TRAVELWhat YouTube ContentID does
ContentID matches uploaded videos against reference material supplied by rights holders. A match can lead to a claim and, where eligible, advertising revenue. EXMGE handles the administration of the rights you entrust to us.
You can review claims for each asset in your partner dashboard. If a match or ownership record needs attention, our team works with the documentation behind your catalog.
Which recordings can be registered?
The material used for matching must meet YouTube’s exclusive-rights requirements. Tell us about samples, loops, collaborations and any existing ContentID provider when you apply. A license to use a sound is not automatically permission to register it for matching.
- A channel or catalog link that shows the work you want us to manage.
- Details of who controls the recordings and the territories involved.
- Information about third-party material and existing representation.
ContentID when you sell beat licenses
Selling non-exclusive licenses to your original beat and buying a non-exclusive license to another producer’s beat are different situations. We work with producers who retain the rights to their original recordings.
If a customer uploads a video using a licensed beat and receives a claim, the video link and license help establish whether that use is covered. Our tools support the release of covered customer videos while we continue managing other uses of the recording.
From catalog review to ongoing management
Your application starts with the music and rights you want us to review. We agree the scope and terms before management begins.
- Submit your channel or catalog through the application.
- Clarify ownership, third-party material and any existing provider.
- Agree the services, rights and commercial terms.
- Review claims and earnings in your dashboard and contact our team when you need help.
Questions about this service
How does ContentID earn money from videos using my music?
YouTube’s ContentID system compares uploaded videos with reference files for music and video we manage. When it finds a match, eligible uses can generate advertising revenue for the rights holder. This includes user-generated content (UGC): videos other people upload using your work.
Can I use ContentID if my music contains samples or loops?
You must control the exclusive rights to the material used for matching in the territories covered. A license to use a sample or loop does not automatically include those rights. Tell us about third-party material in your recordings so we can review its eligibility and any sections that need to be excluded from matching.
Can I sell non-exclusive beat licenses and use ContentID?
Yes, we work with producers who license their own beats non-exclusively while retaining the rights to their original recordings. Our tools help clear claims on customer videos when their licenses cover the use. Buying a non-exclusive license to someone else’s beat does not give you the same ContentID rights.
